Sorrells Custom Wine Cellars has been trading for over half a century as
makers of wine racks and wine storage facilities.

It all started in 1947 when two friends, working out of their lock-up in Putney, south London, were offered a lorry-load of liberated wine from France. The wine, being stored in dilapidated wine crates, was urgently in need of a safe haven. The two friends made their first wine racks and Sorrells was born.

Steady growth and a change of hands followed and the facility moved out of Putney to a hen shed in Arundel, West Sussex. It was in 2003 that Tim Lewis, wine lover and entrepreneur, bought the business, relocating it to its current home in Rayleigh, Essex.

Since then, the business has grown exponentially. Tim’s dedication and passion for all he does lies at the heart of the business. Constant innovation to serve his customers ensures Sorrells keeps up with current trends and growing demand.

The Sorrells’ Umbrella

Sorrells is the bespoke arm of the business, making beautiful, unique wine rooms and wine cellars in homes and restaurants throughout the UK, Europe and further afield.

Sorrells Europe was established in early 2017 to facilitate expansion in Europe. Alongside Sorrells sits its sister company, The Traditional Wine Rack Company, which makes wholesale, off-the-peg wine storage solutions available for purchase in department stores worldwide.
